Dicoogle is a medical image repository allowing indexing and retrieval of images over multiple, distributed PACS servers. It supports query and retrieval by means of free text and metadata-based querying. Its modular architecture allows the quick development of new functionalities, due the availability of a Software Development Kit (SDK).
The paradigm introduced with the Dicoogle index engine allows execution of queries over a set of distributed DICOM repositories, which are logically indexed as a single federated unit. This runs queries against all Dicoogle nodes as though they were a single index. Users can enter search criteria once and access several search engines simultaneously in real time.
